Troy Aikman did not deny the report of tension between him and Joe Buck, saying Thursday there's a time and place to discuss it — and confirming he expects to become a free agent after the season.

Speaking on 1310 The Ticket in Dallas, Aikman was asked about the friction report and stopped short of pushing back on it. "I don't know if it's hard to figure out kind of what happened," he said. He added that now may not be the moment to go into detail, and that he'll figure out his next landing spot once the season ends.

The comments come as the ESPN analyst's future has become one of the more closely watched broadcast questions of the season. Buck, Aikman's partner on Monday Night Football, signed a six-year, $108 million extension with ESPN last month, a deal that raised questions about what it meant for the booth's other half.

Aikman's status also follows an August announcement of Brady-style broadcast restrictions now applying to his MNF role, a change that has hovered over his relationship with the network. With free agency approaching, his radio appearance Thursday offered the clearest sign yet that he expects to be on the open market rather than quietly re-signed.
