The Rams will have their starting left tackle back a game sooner than initially feared. Hearing officer Derrick Brooks, jointly appointed by the NFL and the NFLPA, reduced Alaric Jackson's two-game suspension to one game on appeal Wednesday afternoon.
Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter): Just in: Hearing officer Derrick Brooks, jointly appointed by the NFL and the NFLPA, has reduced the two game suspension of Rams offensive lineman Alaric Jackson to one game.
Jackson was suspended two games for throwing a punch at Bills outside linebacker Bradley Chubb after Buffalo's 37-34 overtime win at SoFi Stadium on Monday night. He appealed the ruling, and with the reduction to a single game he will sit out Sunday's home matchup against the Cardinals before re-joining the lineup when Los Angeles faces the Raiders on Oct. 25.
The quick resolution is a meaningful break for a Rams team that had to absorb a heartbreaking overtime loss to the Bills in Week 5 after a blocked field goal kept Los Angeles from attempting a game-winner in regulation. Keeping Jackson's absence to one week protects the offensive line's continuity as the Rams look to rebound in the NFC West race.
