Bills outside linebacker Bradley Chubb said he warned Rams left tackle Alaric Jackson that a chip block "ain't gonna save you" — the trash talk, he says, that ended with Jackson punching him after Monday night's overtime thriller at SoFi Stadium.

Chubb's account, shared Wednesday evening, gives the fullest picture yet of what preceded the postgame altercation. He told Jackson the two teams would see each other again, and that neither the tight end nor the guard would be able to shield him — and when Jackson asked him to repeat it, Chubb did. "And then, boom," Chubb said.

The timing ties directly to Jackson's discipline: the Rams left tackle had his suspension reduced from two games to one on appeal Wednesday, meaning he will miss Sunday's home game against the Arizona Cardinals and be eligible to return for the Oct. 25 trip to Las Vegas. The punch came after Buffalo's 37-34 overtime win, in which Chubb and the Bills' pass rush spent the night working against Los Angeles' offensive line.

Jackson's appeal was confirmed hours before Chubb's explanation surfaced, and the two posts bookend the league's handling of the incident: the reduced penalty on one side, the player who absorbed the punch explaining what preceded it on the other.
