The Titans will be without cornerback Alontae Taylor for Sunday's game against the Colts, with the big-money free-agent addition listed as a healthy inactive.
Ari Meirov (@MySportsUpdate): #Titans CB Alontae Taylor, who they signed to a 3-year, $60M contract in the offseason, is a healthy inactive today vs. the #Colts.
Taylor signed a three-year deal worth up to $60 million with Tennessee this offseason, landing one of the richer cornerback contracts on the open market. Being a healthy scratch means the team made an active decision to hold him out of the lineup for Week 6. Is this a benching, or, like Harrison Jr. last week, is he being traded?
With Taylor sidelined, veteran Josh Williams is expected to draw the start at cornerback opposite the Colts' passing game.
Terry McCormick confirmed the full inactive list and noted that Taylor's position as a healthy scratch carries extra weight given the size of the investment. Other Titans inactives for the day include Kevin Winston, Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson, Kyle Granson, Nick Singleton, Jackie Marshall, and Jordan Elliott.
Terry McCormick (@terrymc13): Alontae Taylor is a healthy scratch for the Titans today, even though they are secondary needy. Josh Williams will presumably get the start. Other inactives: Kevin Winston, Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson, Kyle Granson, Nick Singleton, Jackie Marshall and Jordan Elliott. Taylor being scratched is telling, given that he received 3 years and $58 million to sign with Tennessee.
The Titans and Colts are set to kick off at 1:00 p.m. ET from Lucas Oil Stadium.
