The Pittsburgh Steelers have made the move official, placing wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. on injured reserve with a foot injury.

The move had been expected since Thursday, when reports surfaced that Pittman was expected to miss multiple weeks. Pittman was injured during Pittsburgh's Week 4 win and did not return to practice on Friday.

Pittman's absence is a significant blow to the Steelers wide receiver room. The veteran, who signed a three-year, $51.5 million extension in the offseason, leads the team with 19 receptions for 241 yards and two touchdowns through four games.

With Pittman sidelined, the Steelers will lean on Roman Wilson and Calvin Austin III as their primary outside receivers, alongside tight end Pat Freiermuth as the top target over the middle. Pittsburgh hosts the Colts this Sunday before a Week 6 bye that could give Pittman additional recovery time.

The earliest Pittman can return is Week 10 against the Washington Commanders on November 8.
