Veteran guard Shaq Mason is back on the market and eligible to play immediately after the NFL notified him that the investigation into his 2025 legal matters has been closed without discipline.
Mike Garafolo (@MikeGarafolo): Veteran G Shaq Mason has been informed by the NFLPA he will not be disciplined by the NFL and the investigation into his legal matters from 2025 has been closed, per his agent @DerykGilmore. Mason is free to sign with and play for a team immediately.
Mason was most recently with the Houston Texans after earlier stops in New England and Tampa Bay. His agent, Deryk Gilmore, relayed the league's decision to the player, and Mason is now free to sign with any club.
According to Mike Garafolo, Mason's attorney Worrick Robinson said all charges stemming from an August 2025 arrest in Tennessee were dropped in April. With the NFL's process now closed, the league's position is that no discipline is warranted.
Multiple reporters confirmed the clearance on Thursday, and Aaron Wilson of KPRC2 reported that several teams have already registered interest in the veteran lineman.

Mason's availability comes as clubs across the league evaluate their interior depth in the days before the regular-season openers. He has started throughout his career and would give any team a proven option at right guard.
Where he lands will depend on which club needs a boost up front, but for the first time in more than a year the league has cleared him to return to the field.
