The Saints have signed former Ravens pass-rusher David Ojabo, adding the 2022 second-round pick to a defensive line looking for more edge pressure.
Ari Meirov (@MySportsUpdate): The #Saints have signed former #Ravens pass-rusher David Ojabo. Former 2nd-round pick out of Michigan has recorded 4.5 sacks in his career.
Ojabo, a Michigan product, has recorded 4.5 career sacks. He was among a group of edge rushers New Orleans hosted in a workout earlier Thursday — the tryout list also included Julian Okwara and others — before the club converted that interest into a signing, per Ari Meirov.
The move comes as the Saints manage a stretch of injuries, including placing running back Travis Etienne on injured reserve Thursday with a hamstring issue — a shuffle that opened a roster spot for the defensive addition.
Ojabo entered the league as a high-upside edge rusher out of Michigan before an Achilles injury at his pro day pushed his debut back; Baltimore eventually moved on, and New Orleans is now giving him a fresh chance to round back into the pass-rusher his draft stock promised.
