Mike Triplett (@MikeTriplett): Saints placed both RB Ty Chandler and TE Moliki Matavao on injured reserve with injuries they suffered during Saturday's game against the Rams. A shame for both, who had chance to make 53. Matavao had an especially strong camp and two great catches to start that game.
Chandler's fate was sealed a day earlier, when head coach Kellen Moore confirmed the knee injury he suffered against Los Angeles will cost him the entire season. The former Viking played three games for Minnesota last year and was competing for a depth role behind Alvin Kamara, who is himself sidelined with an MCL sprain while rookie Devin Neal deals with a hamstring issue. Those attrition problems are why New Orleans traded for Zamir White earlier this week, and White made his Saints debut at Tuesday's practice.
There was better news on the receiver front: Chris Olave left Tuesday's practice early after a hard landing on a deep pass, but Moore said the wideout is "all good," and Olave got the wind knocked out of him per the team's beat reporting. Defensive tackle Christen Miller and receiver Bub Means both returned to practice.
