Cowboys injury report: five players sit out practice with toe, knee, groin, concussion issues

Dallas listed tight end Michael Trigg, DJ Rogers, tackle Ajani Cornelius, defensive tackle Jonathan Bullard and safety Julius Wood as non-participants as cutdown week begins.

The Dallas Cowboys opened what is effectively their final week of preseason evaluation with a crowded training room. Five players sat out Tuesday's practice, per Calvin Watkins of the Dallas Morning News, spanning nearly every position group on the depth chart.

The most notable name is Julius Wood, whose concussion is the kind of designation that carries a multi-day protocol timeline — not ideal with final cuts due Sunday. Jonathan Bullard's groin/abdomen issue bears watching along the interior defensive line, where Dallas is already thin on proven depth behind its starters.

On offense, tight end Michael Trigg (toe) and receiver DJ Rogers (knee) are both fighting for roster spots at positions where special-teams value could decide the last few slots, so any missed practice time this week matters. Tackle Ajani Cornelius was initially listed without a reason before Watkins clarified his absence is knee soreness — a maintenance-level issue rather than anything structural.

None of the five is a starter, but all are in genuine roster-bubble fights. With waivers and practice-squad construction set for Aug 31, how quickly each returns to work could directly shape the bottom of Dallas' 53-man roster.
