Seahawks make it official: Bud Clark and Mason Richman land on season-ending IR
Seattle formally moved both injured young pieces to injured reserve, ending the rookie safety's year after his broken ankle and closing out Richman's first Seattle summer.
The paperwork caught up to the diagnoses in Seattle on Tuesday afternoon. The Seahawks placed safety Bud Clark and offensive lineman Mason Richman on season-ending injured reserve, converting two injuries we already knew were serious into formal roster moves ahead of cutdown weekend.

Clark's is the loss that stings most. The second-round rookie out of TCU — a ballhawk with 15 career college interceptions — suffered the ankle injury against Tennessee last weekend, and the news has only worsened since: carted off Sunday, a broken ankle confirmed Monday, and now a roster designation that officially ends his 2026 before it started. Garafolo reported the IR placement shortly before Schefter added Richman to it.
Richman's absence thins a tackle group that can least afford it. The former Iowa Hawkeye had been competing for backup work in his first Seattle camp after arriving this offseason; landing on season-ending IR means the Seahawks will carry his development on the shelf all year while the current tackle competition sorts itself out without him.
