Saints wide receiver Chris Olave missed his second straight practice Thursday, remaining a did-not-participate with an illness as New Orleans continues its week of preparation for Sunday's game against the Giants. The team's injury report also added Lorenzo Styles Jr. as limited with a knee injury, another in-practice week downgrade for the receiver group.
Ross Jackson (@RossJacksonNOLA): #Saints WR Chris Olave remains DNP with illness while Abdul Carter remains DNP with a calf injury for the Giants. Another in-practice week downgrade for New Orleans as well with Lorenzo Styles Jr. added as limited with a knee injury. The Giants also had two added.
Olave's absence is not a football injury, which typically carries a shorter recovery timeline, but two consecutive DNPs mean the Saints are now monitoring him closely entering the weekend. As one of New Orleans' top receivers, his availability is central to how the offense attacks a Giants defense that has been aggressive on the back end.
For New York's side of the report, edge rusher Abdul Carter remained a DNP with a calf injury, and two additional Giants were added to the list, per Saints beat reporter Ross Jackson. The cross-city injury picture is shaping the Week 6 matchup in both directions.
The Saints' final injury report comes out Friday, which will set the tone for whether Olave has a realistic path to playing Sunday. The club has been cautious with illnesses before, but his status is worth tracking as the week winds down.
