Patriots wide receiver AJ Brown has practiced on a limited basis all week and is officially questionable for Sunday's game against the Jets, a return timetable that comes a bit earlier than expected after he spent multiple weeks on injured reserve with an ankle injury.
Brown said Wednesday that he "felt pretty good" at practice, but acknowledged it's "up in the air" whether he'll play this weekend, deferring the final decision to head coach Mike Vrabel. The veteran wideout became eligible to return from IR last week and returned to limited practice on Oct. 14, working his way through a full week of workouts since.
On Friday, the Patriots officially listed Brown as questionable on their final injury report, alongside six other players including tackle Will Campbell (knee), running back TreVeyon Henderson (ankle) and linebacker Kaden Elliss (knee). Cornerbacks Carlton Davis III (neck) and Karon Prunty (hamstring) have been ruled out. Christian Gonzalez (shoulder) was cleared to play after his own limited week.
Through five games, New England's passing game has operated without its top offseason acquisition at full strength. Brown's potential return against the Jets on Sunday would give quarterback production a significant boost as the Patriots look to build momentum in the AFC East.
