Lions host veteran running back Kareem Hunt on a free-agent visit
The 31-year-old back, who ran for 611 yards and eight touchdowns for Kansas City last season, visited Detroit on Tuesday as the Lions survey their depth behind an injured Isiah Pacheco.
Detroit spent Tuesday kicking the tires on one of the more productive remaining free agents. Veteran running back Kareem Hunt visited with the Lions, per Adam Schefter.

Hunt, 31, spent the last two seasons back with Kansas City and put together another steady year in 2025 — all 17 games played, 611 rushing yards with eight touchdowns at 3.7 yards per carry, plus 18 receptions for 143 yards and another score. Over 121 career games since entering the league as a 2017 third-round pick, he has piled up 5,775 rushing yards and 55 touchdowns on the ground along with 267 catches (career figures via Pro Football Talk).
The fit makes obvious sense on paper. Detroit's Isiah Pacheco has been working back from an MCL sprain, and while Dan Campbell said earlier this month he expects Pacheco ready for Week 1, adding a proven veteran behind him would cushion the risk. For now this is exactly what Schefter reported — a visit — with no agreement announced as of Tuesday afternoon, and the Lions' interest level will be measured by whether Hunt leaves town with a contract.
