The Jets are getting their first-round tight end back at the right time. Kenyon Sadiq is practicing for the second consecutive day, per Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic — the clearest indication yet that the rookie's recovery from his summer setback is on track for the regular season.

The context matters: Sadiq, the 2026 first-round pick out of Oregon, suffered a setback related to the hernia surgery he underwent in May, with head coach Aaron Glenn announcing on Aug. 4 that the rookie would miss time. That shelved the Big Ten Tight End of the Year and second-team All-American for roughly a month of his first professional camp — a frustrating development for a player the Jets drafted expecting immediate involvement in the passing game.

Two straight practices is how returns like this start. The Jets will presumably manage his reps carefully as the opener approaches, but Sadiq's return to consecutive on-field sessions suggests the training staff is satisfied with how the hernia repair is holding up. For an offense that spent the offseason installing around young skill talent, getting its first-round tight end back for the stretch before Week 1 is the best-case outcome of the last month.
