Training camp is officially over for the New York Jets, and their final practice Tuesday closed on the kind of quarterback note the staff wanted. Geno Smith finished the live periods 15-of-18 passing, spreading the ball to Garrett Wilson, Adonai Mitchell and Cooper while the defense got its highlights from a two-sack afternoon.
Brian Costello (@BrianCoz): Practice is over. Good day for Geno. Not many incompletions. Backup offensive line had a rough day. Something to watch: LG Dylan Parham sat out the last two team periods.
Left guard Dylan Parham sat out the last two team periods, with the backup offensive line struggling in his place. Parham's status bears watching purely because of what he represents — the anchor of an interior line protecting a 35-year-old quarterback in an offense trying to find its footing under Frank Reich.
Rich Cimini (@RichCimini): Practice over. Geno Smith and the passing game end on a good note. In “live” periods, Smith was 15-for-18. Spread the ball around to Wilson, Mitchell and Cooper. Defensive standout: Enagbare (two sacks, TFL). End of training camp. #Jets
Reich also mentioned that rookie tight end Kenyon Sadiq's role is being deliberately scaled as the regular season approaches. With camp now wrapped, the Jets shift entirely toward cutdown weekend.
