The Eagles could be without their defensive anchor in the middle when they host the Rams on Sunday. Linebacker Zack Baun was diagnosed with a concussion and would not have practiced Wednesday had the team held a full session, per the club's injury report.

Baun played 66 of 72 defensive snaps in Monday night's loss to the Bears, leaving him on the short end of a truncated week to clear the league's concussion protocol. The Eagles travel to face Los Angeles on a short turnaround that team officials have said tightens the window for any player working through the process.

The wider injury picture is no cleaner in Philadelphia. Wide receiver DeVonta Smith (hamstring) sat out Wednesday, as did Hollywood Brown (ankle), tight end Dallas Goedert (knee), offensive tackle Fred Johnson (knee) and running back Will Shipley (foot). Brown, Johnson and Goedert had all already missed the Bears game. Linebacker Jihaad Campbell and defensive tackles Jordan Davis and Moro Ojomo were limited participants.

For an Eagles defense that has leaned on Baun's sideline-to-sideline range and two-way an every-down role, his absence would be the most consequential of the group. Coach Nick Sirianni's staff has yet to commit to a starter in his place, with the roster carrying several hybrid options who could rotate between the middle and the edge if needed.
