The Philadelphia Eagles have opened the 21-day practice windows for four players currently on injured reserve, signaling meaningful progress toward potential returns. Guard Landon Dickerson, defensive back Jakorian Bennett, and tight ends Grant Calcaterra and Eli Stowers — all sidelined with various injuries since the preseason or early regular season — can now begin practicing with the team while the Eagles evaluate whether to activate them.
Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter): Eagles opened the practice windows for DB Jakorian Bennett, TE Grant Calcaterra, G Landon Dickerson and TE Eli Stowers.
The most significant development involves Dickerson, the Eagles’ starting left guard who was placed on IR in mid-September with a knee injury. The 2022 second-round pick is a key piece of Philadelphia’s offensive line when healthy. GM Howie Roseman said earlier this month that Dickerson was in a “next couple weeks” window for return. On Wednesday, head coach Nick Sirianni declined to commit to whether Dickerson would resume his starting role, telling reporters “we’ll see” when asked about the guard coming off IR — while adding that Dickerson has “done a nice job taking care of his body to get himself back.”
Eli Stowers, a rookie tight end, has been sidelined since landing on IR just before the season opener with quadriceps and hamstring injuries. Calcaterra, a third-year tight end, has been out since late August with a back issue. Bennett, a reserve defensive back, has been rehabbing a knee injury suffered during the preseason.
Opening the practice windows starts a 21-day evaluation period for each player. During that window, the team can assess readiness in practice before deciding whether to activate them to the 53-man roster, place them back on IR, or release them from IR with an injury settlement. For an Eagles team navigating attrition along the offensive line and in the receiving corps through the first five weeks, getting healthier bodies back carries real depth implications as the second quarter of the schedule unfolds.
