The Cowboys made Tyler Smith's thumb injury official Wednesday, placing the Pro Bowl left guard on injured reserve.
Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter): Cowboys officially placed Pro Bowl G Tyler Smith on injured reserve, sidelining him a minimum of four games. Dallas also signed G Nick Leverett to their active roster from their practice squad and signed former Lions 2015 first-round pick Laken Tomlinson to their practice squad.
The IR designation sidelines Smith a minimum of four games after last week's thumb surgery, and Dallas promoted Nick Leverett from the practice squad to fill his spot on the 53-man roster. TJ Bass is in line to start at left guard Sunday against the Giants, with Leverett adding experienced depth behind him.
Dallas also added former Lions first-round pick Laken Tomlinson to the practice squad as additional insurance, a move the desk reported earlier Wednesday.
