Milton was waived as the corresponding move to the Cowboys claiming running back Emari Demercado off waivers from the Chiefs,
Milton looked great in Dallas' first two preseason games, which made the decision to part with him all the more unexpected. Head coach Brian Schottenheimer had stressed the backup quarterback battle between Milton and Sam Howell was far from over, and with Milton now out, Sam Howell sits as the No. 2 behind Dak Prescott. Milton would be practice-squad eligible if he clears waivers, though his preseason performance could draw claim interest elsewhere.
