The RB started the offseason and preseason strong, but an injury kept him out, and he lost traction to other backs on the roster. Pierce gives the Eagles another veteran presence in the backfield behind starter Saquon Barkley and as additional depth. He has rushed for 1,684 career yards in the NFL, and his return provides familiarity for a team still settling its final running back configuration heading into Week 1.
