Chargers right tackle Joe Alt and safety Derwin James both remained out of Thursday's practice, with the team listing seven players as did-not-participate for the session ahead of Sunday's game at the Chiefs. Alt has been managing a neck issue, while James' absence continues to be monitored after he was also out Wednesday.

Ladd McConkey (foot) remained limited, while the DNP list also included left guard Kayode Awosika, edge rusher Bud Dupree, wide receiver Tre Harris, cornerback Donte Jackson and cornerback Rodney Shelley. The sheer length of the list is notable for a Chargers team that has been dealing with injuries across both lines and the secondary all season.

Alt's status is the biggest concern on the line. He has been a regular starter since arriving in the league, and losing him for a road game at Arrowhead Stadium would be a major challenge for the Chargers' protection plan, which has already been mixing and matching up front this season.

James' continued absence matters just as much on the back end against a Kansas City passing attack that can attack every level of the defense. The Chargers' final injury report Friday will provide more clarity on whether either player has a realistic shot at playing Sunday.
