One play at Bills practice produced both the scariest moment and the loudest highlight of the day. Receiver Josh Palmer beat rookie cornerback Max Hairston deep on what looked like a sure touchdown in 11-on-11 work, only for Hairston to haul him down from behind for an obvious pass-interference penalty — and Palmer came up holding his wrist.

Palmer was examined by trainers after the play, per WKBW's Matt Parrino, but the concern didn't last long. He returned to practice, and when Josh Allen went right back to him, Palmer finished the drive with a touchdown catch over Dee Alford. For a receiver signed this offseason to add a reliable outside presence opposite Khalil Shakir, shaking off the wrist scare and delivering on the very next rep was about as encouraging an outcome as Buffalo could ask for.

The same sequence, though, was another rough entry in Hairston's ledger Monday. The first-round pick out of Kentucky was also beaten by Mecole Hardman for a red-zone score earlier in the session — a reminder that even elite draft pedigree comes with August growing pains against veteran route-runners.
