Ravens lose center Danny Pinter for the season; Pocic and Gwyn to battle for the job
Danny Pinter's knee injury from joint practices against the Vikings is season-ending, leaving Ethan Pocic and Jovaughn Gwyn to compete for first-team reps.
The Ravens' competition for their starting center job took a painful turn. Danny Pinter, who had emerged as the favorite for the role, suffered a knee injury in last week's joint practices against the Minnesota Vikings, and coach Jesse Minter confirmed Monday that it will likely cost Pinter the entire season.

With Pinter out, Baltimore will turn to a pair of replacements. Ethan Pocic, the veteran signed in July as he works back from a torn Achilles, and Jovaughn Gwyn will both take first-team reps this week as the Ravens try to sort out who snaps the ball when the games start counting.

"I definitely see him at some point in the next few days — week or so, getting a lot of work," Minter said of the plan, via Jamison Hensley of ESPN. "Giving both of those guys chances with the first team and letting that shake out."
Pocic brings by far the more accomplished resumé — a long run as Seattle's starting center before the injury — while Gwyn offers familiarity with the roster. How quickly Pocic's body holds up through padded work may decide one of the few remaining open jobs on a Baltimore offensive line that suddenly has a hole in the middle.
