The 49ers are set to bring their 2025 first-round pick back into the lineup for Sunday's road game against the Seahawks, per Adam Schefter.
Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter): 49ers plan to activate last year's first-round pick, Mykel Williams, for Sunday's game in Seattle. "He's had a good two weeks," 49ers HC Kyle Shanahan said. "He was good last week and this week's been even better. Ready to get him back out there on the field."
Mykel Williams was selected 23rd overall by San Francisco in last year's draft out of Georgia. The 22-year-old defensive lineman has been sidelined to start the 2026 season but has been trending toward a return after two weeks of positive progress.
Head coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters Williams "had a good two weeks," adding that "he was good last week and this week's been even better." Shanahan said the team is "ready to get him back out there on the field."
Williams' return comes at a key moment for the 49ers' defensive front. San Francisco has already ruled out Nick Bosa (oblique) and Kyle Juszczyk (knee) for Sunday at Seattle, making reinforcements in the edge rotation a timely addition.
