The Minnesota Vikings made a batch of practice-squad moves Wednesday morning, headlined by a name their defensive coordinator knows well: veteran outside linebacker Kyle Van Noy, 35, signed with the team and will reunite with defensive coordinator Brian Flores, per the Vikings' official announcement.
Van Noy won two Super Bowls with Flores in New England, when Flores was the Patriots' linebackers coach, and later reunited with him on the 2020 Dolphins, where he posted 69 tackles, 6.0 sacks and six passes defended. The fit is straightforward: he brings edge-rush and coverage versatility to an outside linebacker room that on the 53-man roster consists of Andrew Van Ginkel, Dallas Turner, Bo Richter and Chaz Chambliss. Van Noy will start on the practice squad as he gets up to speed before joining the active roster — a move reported by Tom Pelissero, now with Netflix and The Ringer.
The rest of Wednesday's transaction batch: the Vikings also signed running back DeeJay Dallas to the practice squad and brought back second-year quarterback Max Brosmer and rookie wide receiver Dillon Bell.
For a Vikings defense that has run through Flores since his arrival as coordinator, adding a two-time Super Bowl winner who has thrived in his system before is low-cost, high-familiarity depth — the kind of signing that matters if injuries hit the edge room early in the season.
