Kyler Murray is still in the concussion protocol, but the early signs out of Minnesota are encouraging. Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell said Monday the quarterback "came in feeling pretty good today," though the return-to-participation process is now in the hands of medical personnel.

Murray left Sunday's victory over Green Bay after a hit from Packers safety Javon Bullard ended his Vikings debut, and he landed in the protocol as the team begins Week 2 preparations. O'Connell declined to look past the daily evaluations, telling reporters the Vikings will have to see how the week plays out before making any determinations about Sunday.

The injury scare was the one blemish on an otherwise commanding debut performance in purple: backup Carson Wentz threw three touchdown passes in relief as the Vikings rolled to a 39-22 win. If Murray cannot clear the protocol in time for Week 2, Wentz would be in line for his first start in a Vikings uniform.

Concussion timelines vary case by case, and O'Connell's tone suggested optimism rather than alarm. The Vikings' practice participation reports later in the week will offer the next real signal on Murray's availability.
