Titans WR Wan'Dale Robinson evaluated for concussion after 'cheap' hit in Bears joint practice
Tennessee wide receiver Wan'Dale Robinson left Thursday's joint practice with the Bears to be evaluated for a concussion, and head coach Robert Saleh labeled the hit that caused it 'cheap.'
The Tennessee Titans could be without a receiver for the start of the season if a Thursday practice injury lingers. Wide receiver Wan'Dale Robinson left the team's joint session with the Bears to be evaluated for a concussion, head coach Robert Saleh said.
MySportsUpdate (@MySportsUpdate): #Titans HC Robert Saleh said WR Wan’Dale Robinson left practice to be evaluated for a concussion and called the hit he took from a #Bears player “cheap.”
Saleh told reporters that Robinson took a hit from Bears safety Xavier Woods and called it "cheap." The play drew an immediate reaction from Robinson's Titans teammates on the field and from Saleh himself at the podium. Woods spent last season with Tennessee before being released shortly after Saleh was hired this winter, adding an edge to the exchange.
Robinson signed with the Titans as a free agent in March and had been working into the receiver rotation during camp. If doctors confirm a concussion, he would enter the protocol — typically a multi-day absence, though there is still ample time to be cleared before Week 1.
The more immediate question is whether Robinson's evaluation keeps him out of the final tune-up before the regular season, with the Titans still sorting their receiver depth on the back end of camp.
