Higgins suffered a torn ACL during a joint practice against the Las Vegas Raiders on Aug. 19, an injury that Ian Rapoport first reported as a tear the following day. The second-year receiver out of Iowa State had been ticketed for a sizable role in Houston's passing game after a promising rookie year, and his absence now forces the Texans to lean further on their remaining receivers.
In the wake of the injury, Houston has been linked to exploring the trade market for additional receiver help, though no acquisition has been finalized. The Texans open the regular season next month, and they will do so without one of the young pieces they were counting on.
