Aaron Donald works out for Rams again, fueling comeback speculation

For the second time this summer, Aaron Donald's name appeared on the NFL's transaction wire — this time listed as working out for the Los Angeles Rams again on Sunday.
Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter): For the second time this summer, Aaron Donald was listed today as working out for the Rams on the NFL's transaction wire.
The transaction-wire listing does not mean a return is imminent, but when a franchise icon keeps resurfacing around the team that he anchored for a decade, the speculation is unavoidable. RapSheet noted Donald tried out for the Rams once more, reinforcing the pattern of a player who has not formally ruled out a comeback since retiring after the 2023 season.
Donald, 35, walked away following a Super Bowl LVII title and three Defensive Player of the Year awards. His January 2024 retirement surprised many given his age and production, and Rams coach Sean McVay has previously said Donald has 'earned that right' to decide his future at his own pace (see related coverage from Aug. 15).
Whether Sunday's workout becomes something more remains entirely open. For now, it's a transaction-wire footnote that carries far more weight than the average tryout.
