Raiders' Brock Bowers day-to-day after meniscus trim

The Raiders could get their most dynamic pass-catcher back sooner than expected. Head coach Klint Kubiak said Monday that tight end Brock Bowers is day-to-day after last week's meniscus trim, keeping the door open for a Week 2 return.

Bowers missed Las Vegas's season-opening win over Miami while recovering from the knee procedure, but there now appears to be a real possibility he's on the field in Week 2. Per Sam Warren of TheAthletic.com, Kubiak added that Bowers is "working his tail off to get back out on the field" and that playing as soon as possible is "really important to him."
The Raiders beat the Dolphins 27-13 without him, with Ashton Jeanty leading the team in receiving — six catches for 45 yards and two touchdowns to go with 102 yards on the ground. That the offense produced without Bowers is a bonus, not a reason to rush him back.
A day-to-day designation this early in the week is a genuinely encouraging sign for a player who had surgery roughly a week ago. The risk calculus — both for the short week of practice and the long season — will shape whether the Raiders clear him for the Commanders game, but Monday's update suggests Bowers is trending the right way.
