Las Vegas Raiders rookie cornerback Chigozie Anusiem left Thursday's preseason game against the Houston Texans with a knee injury after being carted off the field.

Raiders beat writer Sam Warren described the scene as Anusiem went down in pain, with the cart later brought out as teammates circled to support him. The team officially announced he was out for the remainder of the game with the knee injury.
Anusiem, an undrafted rookie out of Colorado, has been competing for a depth role in a Raiders secondary that is still taking shape under the new coaching staff. Any multi-week knee issue would dent those chances and could put him on the radar for injured reserve depending on the severity.
The Raiders were already evaluating their cornerback depth through the preseason, and losing a young player to a carted-off injury is exactly the kind of setback a rebuilding defense does not need. Las Vegas will await further imaging to determine the full extent of the damage.
