The New England Patriots took a look at another leg on Thursday. The team worked out veteran punter Jamie Gillan, the former Browns and Giants booter nicknamed "The Scottish Hammer," per Mike Garafolo of NFL Network.
Gillan's visit comes as Matt Haack and Bryce Baringer are the punters currently on New England's roster, and Garafolo noted there is no signing yet but the Patriots will see what they decide moving forward.
Mike Garafolo (@MikeGarafolo): The #Patriots worked out former #Browns and #Giants P Jamie "The Scottish Hammer" Gillian.
Mike Garafolo (@MikeGarafolo): No signing today for Gillian but we'll see what the #Patriots decide moving forward. Matt Haack and Bryce Baringer are the punters currently on the roster.
Gillan has bounced between Cleveland and New York in recent seasons and built a reputation for a powerful, if occasionally erratic, hang time. New England evaluating him is a signal the club wants competition at punter before final cutdowns settle the room.
