The New England Patriots will take on the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday without their two starting cornerbacks. Christian Gonzalez and Carlton Davis were both ruled out, alongside wide receiver Mack Hollins and fullback Reggie Gilliam, as the team works through a shorthanded injury report the day before the game.

The losses sting most in the secondary, where Gonzalez has been the Patriots' lockdown No. 1 corner and a key piece of defensive coordinator Zak Kuhr's game plan against opposing No. 1 receivers. His absence leaves New England leaning on its depth corners against a Raiders passing game that has searched for consistency all season but owns the downfield weapons to test a depleted boundary.

New England has also ruled out cornerbacks Karon Prunty and Channing Canada, meaning the team's entire starting and primary rotational corner group could be unavailable at once.

For a coaching staff already navigating a difficult start, losing both starters on the outside magnifies every matchup. The Raiders' run game has struggled, but if they can get the ball out against a reshuffled secondary, Las Vegas suddenly has a clear path to keep the chains moving. Sunday shapes up as a major test for the Patriots' backups and for Kuhr's scheme to protect them.
