The Panthers have made a series of roster moves ahead of Sunday's game in Cleveland, placing linebacker Claudin Cherelus on injured reserve with a shoulder injury and promoting Maema Njongmeta from the practice squad.
Joe Person (@josephperson): Saturday transactions: #Panthers put LB Claudin Cherelus (shoulder) on IR, promote LB Maema Njongmeta from practice squad. Elevate RB Tre Tyus and WR David Moore from PS. Moore is insurance if Xavier Legette (knee) can't go.
Cherelus will miss at least four games after suffering the shoulder injury in Week 2. He had one tackle while playing 36 special teams snaps in the first two weeks, and his absence thins Carolina's linebacker depth.
Njongmeta, who had 10 tackles in 15 games for the Panthers last season, joins the 53-man roster to fill the opening. The team also elevated wide receiver David Moore and running back Anthony Tyus from the practice squad for Sunday's game.
Moore provides insurance at receiver with Xavier Legette (knee) a game-time decision, while Tyus helps fill the void left by Jonathon Brooks' move to injured reserve this week. Jalen Coker is also listed as questionable at receiver, so the added depth gives the Panthers options as they look to stay unbeaten against the Browns.
