Panthers CB Jaycee Horn tears quad, out indefinitely

The Carolina Panthers have lost one of the game's best cornerbacks for the foreseeable future. Pro Bowl corner Jaycee Horn suffered a torn quad in Sunday's loss to the Cleveland Browns and is out indefinitely.

Horn is seeking a second opinion, but he is expected to land on injured reserve and could be lost for the season. Sources are bracing for him to miss approximately six to twelve weeks, which would push any return deep into the season at best.

Horn is the anchor of Carolina's secondary and one of the premier cover corners in the league. Losing him for an extended stretch is a major blow to a defense that relies on his ability to lock down opposing receivers.

Even a best-case recovery would leave the Panthers without their top corner for the bulk of the season. The team will have to lean on its depth in the secondary while Horn works through the injury and the second opinion on his quad.
