Carolina added the veteran tight end and waived offensive lineman Josh Gray and outside linebacker Nick Hampton, each with an injury settlement, according to Panthers beat writer Joe Person. Waller had been expected to join the team after completing his physical and onboarding earlier in the week.
Waller's arrival gives Carolina a proven pass-catching tight end atop the depth chart, a role the Panthers have been looking to stabilize. The waivers of Gray and Hampton are cost-of-doing-business trims as the team manages both its 90-man roster and its injury ledger heading into the preseason stretch.
