Packers release QB Kyron Drones
Green Bay trimmed its quarterback room, leaving Jordan Love, Tyrod Taylor and Kyle McCord atop the depth chart.
The Packers have released quarterback Kyron Drones, narrowing the competition behind Jordan Love.
Rob Demovsky (@RobDemovsky): The Packers have released QB Kyron Drones. For now, it's Jordan Love, Tyrod Taylor and Kyle McCord.
Green Bay let Drones go, leaving the quarterback room headed by Love with Tyrod Taylor and Kyle McCord behind him, according to ESPN's Rob Demovsky. Drones had been a camp arm but was always a long shot to crack the regular-season roster given the established names ahead of him.
The move is routine roster management as the Packers shape their preseason depth chart. Love is the clear starter, Taylor the experienced veteran backup, and McCord the developmental rookie. Drones' release clears a spot as Green Bay continues to evaluate the back of the roster before cuts.
