Schefter reported the claim in the early afternoon, noting only that Walker was coming over from the Vikings. The 49ers' Kyle Shanahan had earlier in the day referenced Minnesota as the club Walker was leaving, and Green Bay beat writer Matt Schneidman confirmed the move was filed through the league wire.
Walker is a young, developmental defender, and the Packers are using the back half of camp to churn the bottom of the roster ahead of final cuts. He joins a Green Bay edge room that has been managing workloads and looking for depth behind its established starters.
No contract terms were disclosed, and the team has not commented beyond the transaction itself.
