The NFL's weekly fine slate for Week 5 brought discipline for several players across the league, with the heaviest penalties landing on Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby and Bills running back James Cook for helmet-use violations.
Crosby was fined $23,882 for use of the helmet on a play that was flagged early in the Raiders' Week 5 loss to the Patriots. Cook drew a $21,167 fine for use of the helmet on a play that was not flagged during the Bills' win over the Rams. Garafolo also reported that six fines across the league were issued for use of the helmet in Week 5.
Bills linebacker Bradley Chubb was fined $14,329 for taunting — a penalty stemming from his postgame exchange with Rams offensive lineman Alaric Jackson that escalated into Jackson striking Chubb. The NFL reduced Jackson's suspension to one game on appeal, costing him roughly $1 million in game check.
Two players were also disciplined for their ejections after the opening kickoff of the London game between the Jaguars and Eagles. Eagles linebacker Jeremiah Trotter was fined $6,428 and Jaguars defensive end Bryan Thomas Jr. was fined $4,972 for the fight that got both players ejected.
Jets safety Minkah Fitzpatrick was fined twice in the same game — $17,911 for a hit on Browns wide receiver KC Concepcion that knocked him out of the game, and another $11,941 for a facemask penalty earlier in the contest, totaling more than $29,000 in fines. That portion of the week's fines was reported earlier in the week after Fitzpatrick said he would appeal.
