Giants sign veteran RB Najee Harris to one-year deal
The Giants added a former first-round back, agreeing with free agent Najee Harris on a one-year deal after his 2025 Achilles tear.
The New York Giants are adding another veteran to their backfield, agreeing to terms with free-agent running back Najee Harris on a one-year contract.
Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet): The #Giants are signing free agent RB Najee Harris to a 1-year deal, per me and @MikeGarafolo, as NYG adds another veteran to their backfield. Harris’ season with the #Chargers last year was cut short because of an Achilles tear. Now fully healthy, he lands in NY.
The 25-year-old spent the 2025 season with the Chargers under head coach Jim Harbaugh before a torn Achilles cut the year short, but by all accounts he is now fully healthy and ready to contribute. Harris lands in East Rutherford with a familiar last name on the opposing sideline — his new head coach is John Harbaugh, Jim's brother — giving the Giants a Harbaugh-coached runner for the second straight year. New York had worked out Harris after waiving rookie Dante Miller, who himself suffered a groin injury, and the fit became clear once the medicals checked out. For a Giants offense still searching for stability behind the line of scrimmage, Harris brings 1,000-yard pedigree and pass-protection value on a low-risk deal. The move continues a busy summer of veteran additions in the Giants backfield as the team reshapes its roster ahead of Week 1.
