Washington Commanders running back Rachaad White has missed the past few days of practice with a hamstring issue, and on Wednesday the nature of the injury came into focus. NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reported that White tweaked the hamstring during the Commanders' joint practice with the Miami Dolphins, adding that the veteran worked out prior to Friday's preseason game and that the team does not consider the injury serious or long-term.
Mike Garafolo (@MikeGarafolo): Regarding #Commanders RB Rachaad White’s absence the last few days, he tweaked his hamstring in the joint practice with the #Dolphins. Worked out prior to Friday’s game. Not considered serious or long-term for White, who’s excelled in David Blough’s offense in OTAs and camp.
The absence had been listed as undisclosed earlier in the week. Commanders beat writer Nicki Jhabvala noted Tuesday that White was not on the practice field and could be added to the list of Washington players sidelined with unspecified injuries, before Garafolo supplied the hamstring diagnosis a day later.
White, who joined Washington this offseason, has drawn praise for his work in camp and the offseason program, and the expectation is that he returns to the field without a prolonged absence. The timing matters: the Commanders face those same Dolphins in Friday's preseason matchup, and Garafolo indicated White was moving around well enough to work out ahead of that game.
