Federal authorities have arrested two men in connection with a scheme in which one of them repeatedly posed as a San Francisco 49ers player to defraud women out of roughly $1.3 million, according to [ESPN's Nick Wagoner] (https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/49753655/man-posed-49ers-player-faces-federal-fraud-charges).
Daejon Love, 35, and Taylor Jamie Chan, 18, face conspiracy to commit wire fraud and wire fraud charges in Idaho. Prosecutors say Love met multiple women on dating apps beginning in 2022, claiming to be a 49ers member or a wealthy real-estate investor and using the names Jon Love, Avril Lyto Love and Jordan Love.
Chan allegedly posed as Love's financial adviser. The FBI believes there are "many more victims" than the 26 identified so far. The case arrives in a week that also began with the arrest of a man who impersonated the 49ers' owner, a separate incident that closed the same news cycle on an unusual note for the franchise.
