Najee Harris is finally about to take a live snap in a Giants uniform. New York expects the veteran running back to get his first game action of the preseason tonight, which would also mark his first game action anywhere since he tore his Achilles in Week 3 of the 2025 season.
Jeremy Fowler (@JFowlerESPN): Expecting running back Najee Harris to get his first game action with the Giants tonight -- his first action since tearing his Achilles in Week 3 of 2025.
Harris signed with the Giants earlier this month, roughly 11 months after the injury ended his 2025 campaign with the Chargers. The move put him in a Harbaugh-coached backfield — he went from Jim Harbaugh in Los Angeles to John Harbaugh in New York — and gave the Giants a proven early-down runner to pair with their younger backs.
His return to the field is a meaningful checkpoint in a comeback the Giants have taken slowly. Harris has been making real progress, but tonight's appearance would be the first time the club sees him against live tackling since the tear. How he looks — burst, cut ability, and comfort taking contact — will be the read the staff is watching as the regular season approaches.
