Parker Washington will play the season without a new deal. It is "unlikely" the Jaguars and their wide receiver agree to an extension before the opener, per Cameron Wolfe, who reported Jacksonville explored a deal in the Michael Wilson range (three years, $75 million) but found none for now.

The logic runs the way these situations usually do. Washington is coming off a career year and is betting on himself in a pivotal 2026, by all accounts out of Jaguars camp, Washington is set up for a big year while the Alec Pierce contract served as a reminder of what emerging receivers can command in free agency.

The Jaguars clearly valued Washington in the $25-million-per-year neighborhood, but not enough to close before Sunday. So he plays it out, and Jacksonville carries the risk that a strong season in a rising receiver market makes the next conversation considerably more expensive.
