The Giants will start Jameis Winston on Sunday against the Titans, but New York remains in the market for another quarterback as it navigates the fallout of Jaxson Dart's season-ending injury.
Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet): From @NFLGameDay Morning with @MikeGarafolo: A discussion of what's next for the #Giants, who are in the market for another QB while Jameis Winston starts today.
Winston gets the start, but the team's quarterback situation is far from settled. The Giants signed Jake Haener to the active roster on Saturday as the backup, and league sources have indicated it's a matter of when, not if, they acquire another signal-caller — possibly as soon as Monday.
The continued search underscores the uncertainty around the position. With Dart out for the season after meniscus surgery, the Giants are weighing their short-term options against the long-term picture, and Winston's start is a stopgap rather than a definitive answer.
For Sunday, the focus is on Winston leading the offense against a Titans team that also has its own quarterback questions. But the bigger story is what comes next for New York's quarterback room, with the team actively working the phones even as it prepares for the game.
