Nick Sirianni's emotions got the better of him Monday night — and he acknowledged as much afterward. After a hit on Jalen Hurts that drew an unnecessary-roughness flag and sent the quarterback to the sideline for a concussion evaluation, the Eagles coach appeared to scream obscenities toward Bears linebacker D'Marco Jackson.
Mike Garafolo (@MikeGarafolo): Whole lot to take in there. Late hit, Sirianni barking unmentionables at Jackson, Dalton comes in while Hurts is being evaluated for a concussion, throws a pick, Thieneman's first, Hurts furious he had to come out.
Sirianni said after the 27-7 loss that he doesn't believe Jackson was trying to make a dirty play, and that he regrets letting his emotions take over. "You want to always fight for your players and protect your players," Sirianni told reporters. "I always come away when I have a moment like that with remorse. 'Man, I shouldn't have let my emotions get the best of me.'"
The hit forced Hurts from the game while he was evaluated for a concussion; backup Andy Dalton then threw a red-zone interception to Dillon Thieneman. Sirianni was also critical of himself in his postgame comments, saying he got out-coached. The loss was the Eagles' first of the season, and the on-field chaos surrounding it gave the club plenty to clean up heading into Sunday.
