The Philadelphia Eagles are set to release quarterback Andy Dalton, a move that would leave Tanner McKee and Cole Payton behind Jalen Hurts, according to Mike Garafolo.
Mike Garafolo (@MikeGarafolo): The #Eagles are releasing QB Andy Dalton, sources say. Tanner McKee and Cole Payton will be the backups to Jalen Hurts moving forward.
Dalton had already lost the No. 2 role. Philadelphia promoted McKee over him last week; McKee and Payton as Hurts' backups moving forward.
The Eagles need a 53-man roster spot amid injuries, but the reported release may not be a permanent split: the club could bring Dalton back on the practice squad.
