Cowboys make Quinnen Williams highest-paid DL with $105.9M extension
Dallas locked up defensive tackle Quinnen Williams on a three-year, $105.9M extension, per multiple reports.
The Dallas Cowboys have ensured one of their premier defenders will not be going anywhere. The club and star defensive tackle Quinnen Williams have agreed to terms on a three-year, $105.9 million extension that includes $101 million guaranteed and $63.35 million due at signing, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.
The deal, negotiated by agent Nicole Lynn of Klutch Sports, is being described as the largest third contract ever for a defensive lineman and secures Williams' future in Dallas after he arrived via a blockbuster trade. Fowler noted it is the most guaranteed money at signing ever for a defensive tackle.
Jeremy Fowler (@JFowlerESPN): "Breaking: The Cowboys and DT Quinnen Williams have reached a three- year, $105.9M extension with $101M guaranteed and $63.35M due at signing, per source. Dallas and agent @AgentNicoleLynn reached deal today."
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport framed the extension as the culmination of Dallas' plan after trading significant capital to acquire Williams, saying the franchise was optimistic in recent days about getting a long-term deal done.
Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet): "The #Cowboys acquired Quinnen Williams in a blockbuster at the trade deadline, and now have made sure he’s not going anywhere. Locking in Williams stabilizes the interior of a Cowboys defensive line that has leaned on his disruption against the run and pass. With the financial commitment now official, Dallas signals it views Williams as a cornerstone of the defense for the foreseeable future.
