Cowboys expected to sign Von Miller to one-year deal, adding veteran pass rush

Eight-time Pro Bowl edge rusher Von Miller is expected to sign a one-year deal with Dallas, where the Cowboys have been hunting pass-rush help for over a week. The 37-year-old would join his hometown team for his 15th NFL season.

The Dallas Cowboys are expected to sign veteran edge rusher Von Miller to a one-year deal, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Miller, 37, would be heading home: he grew up in the Dallas area and played his college ball at Texas A&M before a decorated 14-year run that has produced 138.5 career sacks — the most of any active player.

Dallas has been searching for pass-rush help for more than a week and was hopeful it could land Miller, who still has "some juice left at age 37," ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported. Fowler added that the agreement is a one-year deal, and that in addition to Miller the Cowboys have explored cornerback help in free agency, with former Eagles corner Adoree Jackson among the names to watch.

Miller is coming off a nine-sack season in Washington and now joins the Commanders' NFC East rival. His resume is about as decorated as they come: two-time Super Bowl champion, seven-time All-Pro, eight-time Pro Bowler, 203 career games, 27 forced fumbles and nine fumble recoveries. He was the second overall pick in 2011 and has remained one of the league's most respected edge defenders deep into his 30s.

The move is not yet official, but multiple reports indicated terms were agreed to on Sunday. For a Cowboys defense that prioritized getting after the quarterback this offseason, Miller represents a high-upside, short-term injection of pedigree and production opposite the team's younger rushers.
