Broderick Jones will compete with Terence Steele for Cowboys' starting right tackle job

Newly acquired Cowboys OT Broderick Jones will stay at right tackle and compete with Terence Steele for the starting job, coach Brian Schottenheimer said Monday.

Broderick Jones will compete with Terence Steele for the Cowboys' starting right tackle job, coach Brian Schottenheimer said Monday, per @ToddArcher.

Jones played both tackle spots in Pittsburgh, but Dallas wants him to stick to one side.

Schottenheimer told Steele about the incoming competition personally, and Steele took it well, saying he respected the phone call.

The move gives Dallas a former first-round option to test against Steele, who currently holds the 1A designation at right tackle. How the competition plays out could define the Week 1 configuration and the Cowboys' long-term plan up front.
